Her name gained international attention and praise by giving the world one of its most memorable events in sports history - scoring the first-ever perfect ten in asymmetric bars, at the Montreal Olympic Games in 1976. And, to top it off the feat, she achieved six more perfect tens, making her the youngest overall Olympic gold medalist, at just 14 years of age. The Romanian gymnast was able to attract international attention and aid in helping Romania to establish itself on the world map. Such was her impact at the Olympics that an uneven bar competition includes two movements named in honor of her - toe-on and release move, which are, till date, considered to be at an extremely difficult level.
